the Game
Last week, in LAX airport while waiting at my gate I noticed a guy wearing an Obama T-shirt.
So I stepped back and watched.. I then overheard a conversation from a few guys on my right, complaining about Obama and how his policies will destroy small buisness, and hurt even more for those with large companies. I listened as they did nothing but slam the guy wearing the T-shirt. So I decided to make my move..
I walked up to the Obama supporter, and quietly stood by.. As I caught his attention, I asked him a question..
I made myself clear, as being a McCain supporter, and that I wanted him to address one issue that he supports and would convince me to vote for Obama. The gentleman staggered back, and instead of responding, started asking me questions.. In a politician like factor.. I retorted and asked him if he was a politician?.. He replied and said he worked for the campaign, and then began a conversation on why he is voting against McCain.. I brought up key conservative issues, like universal health care, and higher taxes. He then brought up slander attacks made by the McCain campaign.. So I debunked the situation, and talked about “the Game”
I made it clear, that I thought very little of the way the campaigns are run, and more about the core character issues. If you take away all smoke, and fog.. what core character remains in each candidate? There are two types of politicians. Those who can play “the Game” and do an “OK” job in office. And then those whose character is not conducent to playing “the Game” yet, excel in office. Obama has shown to be the first, since his Senate term has really proved nothing, while McCain has proven to be the later.. The third type I assume would be exceptional, yet I have not seen anyone prove to be that type.. yet
So as we started to board, he acknowledged that he did not answer my question specifically. But we both agreed that the conversation was still challenging and refreshing.
the Game is is all about perception. Perception in American culture has become its reality. Obama is a master of perception, and that perception will mend ties with world, and propel the Country into a new era. I am excited to see how this all turns out. But still believe that McCain was the better candidate.
Its exciting to see the Country and Black Community rally around the President. It is truly refreshing to see the spark of life that it brings.
To one who has great power, great responsibility is needed. I pray simply that God grant him the Wisdom and Understanding to lead.
