Practical God

Infinite.. Shepherd.. Savior.. Compassionate.. Fierce.. Kind.. Merciful.. Gracious.. Divine.. Patient.. Sovereign.. Intimate..

There are so many words that can be used to describe the nature and character of God… yet one word resonates in my heart louder than the rest… Practical

A God that is practical isn’t concerned with the theory and ideas we have about our ministries, rather the actual doing or use of them. It’s so easy to get caught up in the “cloud” we call reality, that we often fail to see the most tangible and obvious ways that impact peoples lives.

In efforts to be “good” we forget simply what it means to Love.

I know full and well that I serve a God that is beyond logic. A God that is able to sculpt the heavens and forge the depths of the sea. Yet even in His own greatness, He showed the most powerful expression of love in the most tangible and practical way… He became man.

Wise Fool

18 The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God. 19 As the Scriptures say,

“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and discard the intelligence of the intelligent.”[a]
1 Corinthians

Wisdom can be so arbitrary at times..

It’s so easy to fall into the temptation of our own “loftiness” that we can lose sight of the obvious. Moments of clarity foreshadow the most brilliant of ideas. It’s as if the Wisdom we diligently seek, masks itself right in front of us.

What makes the cross seem so foolish?Love

The Cross is where the sin of Man and the holiness of God collide. God’s righteousness demands judgment, yet God’s heart longs for reconciliation. The chasm created by the first man “Adam” can only be bridged by another man “Jesus Christ”

The Gospel of Christ is THE most powerful and obvious demonstration of Gods reckless love. Yet the wisdom found in Christ death and resurrection has eluded man for thousands of years, hidden behind the logic and self-absorbtion of men who call themselves “wise”

How will you reflect upon the Cross?
Will it’s depth and obvious power elude your own lofty thinking?
Or will you embrace it’s “foolishness” and find the redeeming power of Christ love..

Poured out

A love I cannot explain..
A love so great it must be proclaimed..
Drawn by His beauty.. amazed by His might..
Humbled by His prescence… consumed by His light..
All that is good, pour forth from His throne..
Into the hearts he calls His own.

Revelation of Love

It amazes me how much the revelation of love frees and continually opens my eyes. Each day I am able to see more and more how God formed our hearts to fit into His hands, and how every desire I have, stems from the need of Him in my life. Including all of my insecurity, and selfish ambition. My entire being of humanity cries out for the redeeming grace of our Savior.

We are nothing without Him.

Those whos hearts are hard to the Truth, lack the very source of life that completes them. Instead they toil in their sinful ways, looking for any means to satisfy their own ambition. Filling the void of their true identity, that can only be found in Christ. For it is In Him, Through Him and For Him we were formed.

The revelation of Love is continually relying on Gods Grace and allowing His spirit to consistently renew you.

It is knowing that God takes delight in us. (of all things)
It is the flame that should fuel us to strip ourselves of our sinfull desires.
It is the realization of the reason for our creation.
It is the standard in which we should walk.
It is the breath of life we must have to sustain our being.
It is all we need.

rejected

Father..
My heart has heard your summon.. a call unto your throne..
you sit waiting and yearning.. longing for your child to rest upon your lap… the creation of your hands.. molded into your image.. given life by your breath.. cherished by your blood.. and consumed by your warmth..

There you sit.. patient.. yearning.. simply to extend your embrace..

yet.. your child peers into your room.. only to quietly turn, and walk away.
